EFFECT OF DIETARY SUPPLEMENTATION OF THE NSP ENZYMES ON PRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE OF THE LACTATING INDIGENOUS COW

Feed Tech Expo 2022

Abstract

KEMZYME™ ONE is unique formulation of patented Xylanase Potentiating factor (XPF) AND Non-Starch Polysaccharides (NSP) enzymes to harness the full energy from NSP of cattle feed, which results in feed optimization and increased milk production and milk fat%.

The purpose of the trial was to demonstrate the benefits of KEMZYME™ ONE supplementation to improve milk production and fat%. The duration of the trial was 21 Days. Daily milk yield of individual cows was recorded by farmer during the trial period. (n=10 control, n= 10 treatment). Cumulative milk fat% calculated on daily basis of control and treatment group by Ekomilk fat analyzer.Faecal characteristics were recorded on regular basis of the selected animals. Feeds and fodders were provided ad-libitum and concentrate was provided as per requirement and ICAR feeding standards. The concentrates were produced by Dayal Industries Pvt. Ltd., Barabanki, U.P. The NSP enzymes were obtained by Kemin Industries South Asia Pvt.Ltd(fibrolytic enzymes) with brand name KemzymeOne.The trial results showed that supplementation of KEMZYME™ ONE significantly(p<0.05) improved milk yield (0.900g of milk/head per day) and (1.12)fat%in supplemented group as compared to control, whereas faecal characteristics of the treated animals were also improved. Hence it was concluded that supplementation of KEMZYME™ ONE significantly improved milk yield, milk fat% along with faecal characteristics in indigenous cows at commercial farm conditions.

  1. Introduction:

Uttar Pradesh belongs to a plain area and the availability of feeds and fodders are suitable for raising dairy farming. The major source of dry fodder in Uttar Pradesh is wheat straw and seasonal green fodder. Due to higher coarse fiber feeding there is always chances of indigestion (20-30%) and persistent rumen acidosis which later leads to laminitis. Complex fiber, sugar, lignin, and phenolic compounds limits digestion. Sustainability and effective utilization of feed and fodder is always checked. Since ruminant animals can’t produce fiber digesting enzymes therefore exogenous enzymes are needed to harvest locked energy and improve NDF digestibility. KEMZYME™ ONE is unique formulation of patented Xylanase Potentiating factor (XPF) AND Non-Starch Polysaccharides (NSP) enzymes of KeminIndustries South Asia Pvt.Ltd. to harness the full energy from NSP of cattle feed, which results in feed optimization and increased milk production and milk fat% by effective utilization of nutrients.

Purpose
The purpose of the trial was to demonstrate the benefits of KEMZYME™ ONE supplementation to improve milk production, fat%& fecal characteristics.

  1. Materials and Methods:

The present study was conducted on the Effect of Dietary Supplementation of NSP Enzymes on Productive Performance of Lactating Indigenous Cow at Awadh dairy kumrawa, Barabanki, U. P.Total twenty Indigenous cows in early lactation stage were selected from the herd. Cows were randomly assigned to one of two groups. Treatment group was supplemented with KEMZYME™ ONE at a dosage of 0.05%of the concentrate mixture for 21 days.Feeds and fodders were provided ad-libitum and concentrate was provided as per requirement and ICAR feeding standards. The concentrates were produced by Dayal Industries Pvt. Ltd., Barabanki, Lucknow. The NSP enzymes were obtained by Kemin Industries South Asia Pvt.Ltd (NSP enzymes) with brand name Kemzyme One. The details of the trial are given in Table 1.
